I’m Starting Over Without A Plan: Signs You’ve Outgrown Your Life & How To Navigate Change

I just gave up the stable home I’ve had for the past 2 years, packed everything up into three suitcases, and left without a plan, with no idea where I’d be living two weeks later. If you’re feeling stuck in life, wondering whether you’ve outgrown your life, or standing at the edge of a big change with no roadmap, this episode is for you. I’d built a life on Koh Phangan, Thailand, that looked good on paper, so why didn’t I want to stay?

This episode is the full story of leaving something that was working on paper but had stopped fitting the life I wanted next, plus the five-step framework I used to navigate change and uncertainty in life without a plan. We cover how to tell whether anxiety, stress, or a total lack of motivation is a sign you’ve outgrown your situation, how to get specific about what you actually want next, how to make a decision and act on it, and – the step most people skip – how to name the fears that will try to hold you back. Whether you’re questioning your business, your lifestyle, or where you live, this episode is for you.

In This Episode You’ll Learn:

  • Why does a life that looks good on paper still feel wrong?
  • What are the real signs you’ve outgrown your life, business, or lifestyle?
  • The 5 steps for navigating a big life change without a plan
  • How to get clear on what you actually want (and how you want to feel)
  • How to name the fears and excuses that keep you from making the change
  • Why intuition, not a plan, is what carries you through the unknown

If you’re in the middle of your own version of starting over, the biggest lesson from this episode is that you don’t need a full plan. You need to get honest about what isn’t working and trust yourself to take the next step.

Sophie

So I am currently homeless. I literally gave up my stable home that I've been living in for the past two years, and decided to go back to being a full time nomad for now, and I don't necessarily have a plan to get another home. And I want to talk about that because I have so much to say on how to navigate change in times of uncertainty, how to know when to leave one's situation, to start something new.

::

Sophie

And I really want to just get all of my thoughts out of my head because I've written Substack, ask was about this. I've written a bio on LinkedIn. I haven't really spoken about this on the podcast in such a personal way. So I want to share with you a little bit about what has been going on for me in my life right now, and how I've ended up in this situation.

::

Sophie

Living in Airbnb in Chiang Mai, in Thailand, what comes next, how I've got here, and what lessons you could take away from this. If you are also navigating a period of change in your life, in your business, in your career. So let's get into it. So in case you haven't met, my name is Sophie. Based off. I am an online business mentor and I have been running my online business for the past six and a half years now, and I have been nomadic for at least the past five and a half years.

::

Sophie

Thailand in the beginning of:::

Sophie

I went through a breakup, my nan passed away, I was selling a property in the UK and it kept falling through. I lost a lot of money that year. I lost lots of clients. That year. I was deciding that I didn't really want to carry on with the business that I had built. Another business that I had built was also going really was really struggling.

::

Sophie

were really hard and heavy in:::

Sophie

I really liked it. I had lived on Christmas for a few months and done my Thai retreats, and whilst I was living on Christmas Tree, I had constantly traveled over to the island of Copenhagen and Copenhagen. Is this if you've never been there, it's just like magical Paradise Island. You've probably know it most commonly known for the Full Moon party, but I mean, I've never been to the full moon party in this in this time that I have lived there.

::

Sophie

I went there back in:::

Sophie

I'd have the year from how in:::

Sophie

I needed a stable base to do that from. And I needed some some support from the environment around me. And that was amazing place for me to be. From the beginning of this year, however, a lot of things happened that made me feel like coping was no longer my place and this was really hard because I love coping as an island.

::

Sophie

I think it's an amazing, amazing place. I have so many amazing friends there. I built community there, I built a coworking community of over 600 people, and I really love the island. Like I really enjoyed my life. There is not that my life was bad, but there were just so many different little signs this year that have been presenting themselves to me that made me question whether Copen Yang was right for this next phase of life that I am moving into.

::

Sophie

And I would say, like I said, when I got to Kraken Young, I needed that stability. I needed that grounding energy. I needed to be in one place. But at the end of the day, I am a nomad. I have been traveling most of my adult life. I've never actually lived anywhere for more than 18 months. So another side of this was me questioning, hang on a minute, is this just my nervous system not letting me settle down and stay put in one location?

::

Sophie

And I battled with myself for months trying to say, no, you have to stay here. I was forcing myself to stay here because I was like, you've never lived anywhere longer than two years in your adult life. You need to stay in this location, because I'd built a beautiful life there. But every time I left the island, something was activated in me that I haven't felt in a really long time when I live on that island.

::

Sophie

And that feeling was like, oh, opportunity, aliveness, feeling like there was just so many more things out there in the world for me that the island can't necessarily give me. And I know that in this next chapter of life, I want certain things in my business, in my personal life, in my environment. And to be honest, Carbon Yang doesn't give me that.

::

Sophie

So every time I was leaving the island and seeing all of these other things that maybe I do want in this next chapter of my life, I was getting glimpses of what that chapter could look like, but I was also coming to the realization that that wasn't actually going to be possible for me if I stayed on the island.

::

Sophie

Now, this was a really hard decision to come to, and it's taken me months, honestly, to decide to leave because like, I say, nothing is catastrophically wrong. Well, like, I really enjoy my life. I'm happy that I have a good routine. I've got friends. It's great, but it's not serving me the purpose for my next chapter. And coming to a decision when something isn't actually bad is really difficult because you're like, on paper, all of these things take all of the boxes for what I need and want in my life.

::

Sophie

But then you look at like your future self and you say, oh, hold on a minute, this is actually what I want. Does this environment serve that purpose? And saying no is a really difficult decision to to come to. And I want to talk about this because I think we get so conditioned to believe that what is good on paper is what is right for us, and that is not always the case, because actually what's good on paper is good for us, maybe in our current phase in our past chapters.

::

Sophie

But if we look at like what we want, is that good on paper still good enough for that future thing? So I had to make a really difficult decision and say, okay, this is what I want for my future life. This island doesn't serve me. There's so I'm just going to blow up my life once again and leave an environment that is great on paper for me.

::

Sophie

And I am going to shift into the unknown and not have a plan live out of our vibes. Figure it out as I go along and essentially enter back into a flow state, rather than forcing myself to stay somewhere where I can be certain of my routine and make solid friends that are in one location, and all of the things that come with being in one place, which are all amazing things.

::

Sophie

I've decided to go back into this like free flow nomad world where I don't necessarily know where I'm going to be this time next week. And that is really daunting because there is a whole process of going from full time traveling to staying still for a period of time, to then going back to traveling, because that adjustment between going from full time traveling to staying still is really hard.

::

Sophie

Like really, really hard. It is like your body or nervous system is programed to move and use. You're really good at thriving in survival mode and thriving in this like almost chaos energy. Because when you arrive in a new place as a nomad, you have to set yourself up from scratch. So going to something while you are living a more quote unquote normal life is a very difficult transition in itself.

::

Sophie

So I'd only really just got used to stay in still in one place, and now I'm like, no, I don't want that anymore. Let's go back to this like nomad life, where there's a little bit more chaos involved. The difference being I am a very different person to the person that was a nomad two years ago, the person that was like full time traveling, moving every other week, not really having a plan, not really knowing what she wanted, just flowing until she figured it out.

::

Sophie

Now I really do know what I want. I'm very clear on what I need, and I really know myself so deeply inside and out that I trust myself to make decisions based on how I'm feeling at any one moment in time, and not by myself, out from travel like I did in the past, and the way that I want to navigate my life over this coming period.

::

Sophie

Let's say the next, at least the next 4 or 5 months, is just very much flow and see how I feel as I navigate through things and not make decisions that are forced. And because they make sense. Now, give you an example of that. When I left the island, I was thinking, I'm going to move to a specific other location in Thailand, which was Kasumi, which is actually only half an hour from Copenhagen, but very different energy, way more busy, very different type of person that lives, completely in different demographic and environment.

::

Sophie

So I was like, okay, I'm going to move into that location because that would make the most logical sense. But first, I'm going to do a little bit of traveling just for a couple of weeks. And that traveling that I did, actually, I went and did a 48 hour digital detox, in Chiang Dao in Thailand. And it was the most amazing thing for me.

::

Sophie

I literally just meditated, sat and rice. I was reading my book on coffee shop part two for two hours with no distractions, and it was pure bliss for recharging my brain and completely detaching from this old version of myself that has just left this island, and figuring out, okay, what comes next. Right now I'm actually in Chiang Mai.

::

Sophie

I have friends here, so it's going to come here and visit them anyway. And turns out I quite like it here. If I was right now in my head, I was like, I'm coming to Chiang Mai for a week, maybe two weeks, then I'm going to go move my life back to Kai smoothly and have this stable, grounded base.

::

Sophie

That was the plan. That was kind of going to shit because I got here, quite liked it. Having a nice time, feeling really good here in flow and I'm like, well, why would I move right now? Like, why would I go and force myself to start a life somewhere when what I'm living is actually making sense to me?

::

Sophie

like what I was doing back in:::

Sophie

After that, who knows what comes next. Maybe I stay here longer. Maybe I go back to the moon. I do start that life there, I don't know, but the point is, I'm really trusting how I feel at any one moment in time to see where I'm meant to be going. And I think what we've lost in society these days is that because something looks good on paper, because something makes sense on paper, we do not trust how we feel in certain situations in which case we get stuck in situations that do not work for us in the current season of life that we are in or where we're going.

::

Sophie

And that is really dangerous because this is how people stay stuck in jobs, careers, business models, partnerships, friendships, relationships, dynamics, environments that do not work for them and then make them really miserable. And that is dangerous because just because it looks good on paper and because other people think that that is what you should be doing, you're going to stay stuck in something that's probably giving you anxiety, feeling overwhelmed, maybe depression, struggling, and your day to day life just because it looks good on paper, that is not okay.

::

Sophie

And we do this because we're trying to force ourselves to mold into this reality of what we think we should have, and listen to ourselves and say, this is actually what I need. I am going to take a bold, brave decision and shift into this other version of reality because this would serve me better. Now that shift is very, very difficult to come to terms with.

::

Sophie

I'm actually take because it requires jumping off a cliff and taking a leap of faith. Right? Because when I left Kobe and no plan, thinking I was going to do one thing and I decided to do something else, it's like, okay, some people would look at that and look at me and say, okay, she's a little bit chaotic, a little bit erratic.

::

Sophie

Maybe she's, a little bit mentally unstable and just doesn't know how to navigate life. But actually, I would say I know myself better than absolutely anybody on this planet, and I know what is good for me and what I need, because I'm so tuned into how my body feels in certain situations. I'm so tuned in to my mind body connection, and what happens to me if I'm living out of alignment?

::

Sophie

Because this is not the first time that I have done this. This is not the first time I've blown up my life. I have done this multiple times. When I left my 9 to 5 job to start a business, when I left London and started nomadic and moved to Bali. When I left Bali and went to be a full time digital nomad.

::

Sophie

When I left Nomad in to move to Penang and stay still for a couple of years. When I burnt down my first iteration of business and rebuilt from scratch like I'm no stranger to change, I've navigated a lot of change in my life, and if I look back, this has been a thing ever since. I was about 16 years old and took the decision to not stay at school and follow that traditional course direction that most of my peers went on.

::

Sophie

I decided to do something completely different. So I'm no stranger to change. I'm no stranger to living outside the box that society puts us in. So for me, making these changes feels very normal because over time, I've really learned how to trust this and trust the flow state. And I've got evidence in my own life that would suggest that when I am living more in these flow states, I'm a lot happier, I'm a lot calmer.

::

Sophie

Things flow to me and I don't have to force things to happen. And that for me is how I personally want to live my life. Why would I try and force myself into a situation that doesn't feel good for me? That doesn't actually work for me? It makes no sense. And too many people do this, and I really want to share my insights into if you are feeling a certain way, that your life is amazing on paper, but your reality doesn't feel so amazing, and you want to learn how to shift into a different version of reality.

::

Sophie

I'm going to share with you in this next part of the podcast, that some of the things that I would suggest and help you in navigating periods of change, periods one sides and see when you know you've outgrown the old and you want to shift into the new. So now I've just waffled at you about my own story on what's going on with my life right now.

::

Sophie

Let's dig into that. Okay, so there's a couple of situations that I could talk to here to give you examples, because I know where you are in your journey. Most people listen to this podcast, even either 9 to 5 and want to leave and start their own thing, or they have already started their own thing, and they are trying to bring it back into alignment with what they actually want.

::

Sophie

So there's a couple of different dynamics here. Now, I personally have gone through both of these examples, so feel pretty well. Boss. Talk to you about them. Now. When I was in my 9 to 5, I would say that I probably stated not 9 to 5 job for at least three years, too long than I should have done, because all the signs were there showing me that this, this career path was not the right one for me.

::

Sophie

I was going into work every single day with severe anxiety. I was having panic attacks in the bathrooms. I was constantly crashing and button heads with my managers because I did not see the world in the same way that they saw the world in. And I did not believe in some of the visions that these companies had because to be honest, I've seen some really shady things in some of the companies that I worked with, and I do not believe in align my values with some of the things I have seen.

::

Sophie

So there was so many moments of conflict throughout those last three years in my career, because clearly I was trying to force myself to stay thinking that climbing the career ladder was the dumb thing on paper. But my version of reality and the feeling that I actually had was a completely different experience. And then the same thing happened again when I changed my business model, and the first four years in my business, things were going really well.

::

Sophie

I was really enjoying what I was doing. And then slowly but surely, I started feeling like, oh, this client I don't really want to work with anymore, or oh, I'm feeling really anxious to show up in my business today, or I can't be bothered to do this work. Like all of those things are signs. And then over a longer period of time that you are out of alignment.

::

Sophie

Now I say it just presents once and you're like, okay, I don't really want to do this anymore. Sign off. Thus, that's maybe not a sign to suggest that you need to block your life and change everything. But if these feelings are presenting to three months, six months, a year or more, the same feeling and you are not making any changes, there is a really big problem that because you are staying stuck in a situation that does not work for you, when you could be shifting into a situation that does.

::

Sophie

Now, I am not going to claim that this is an easy change to make. Wherever you are, whether you are in your 9 to 5 and you want to shift in starting your own thing, or you are already working in your own online business and you want to make a change in that because you know that the current model doesn't work for you.

::

Sophie

I'm not suggesting that that's going to be easy. It is not going to be easy. It is going to be mentally hard. And it is also going to be physically has to change things. However, it is not impossible. And I really do believe if you want something badly enough, you will take the action to make a change and it will work out for you.

::

Sophie

And the thing is, the more you move into alignment with what you actually want and need, the easier things are going to get. The hardest part is actually making the decision to leave and to change. And to get the most recent example of me leaving the island, I took an agonizing few months over making this decision because I didn't want to make the wrong decision.

::

Sophie

I didn't want to blow up my life unnecessarily and caused myself harm or drama or chaos in my life. That was so not what I wanted or needed. But when I made that decision, after weighing up all of the different options, I just felt like, let's go, let's let's just take this action. Let's go. Like, I was so motivated to do to to leave the island at that moment, as soon as I made that decision.

::

Sophie

And I think when you feel like that is so easy to then be like, this is exactly the right thing that I meant to be doing. And as soon as I left, I had absolutely no regrets on leaving, and the path became so much clearer because I wasn't weighed down with the decision that I had to make. I'm not suggesting you make this decision overnight.

::

Sophie

This is a decision. Whatever is change that you're making, don't take it lightly. Really put some thought and consideration into this. Weigh up the pros, weigh up the cons, but really start thinking about what do you want for your next chapter of life? Why do you want to be in the long run as well? Because is this current version of reality going to get you there?

::

Sophie

The yes or the no answer to that question is going to be what helps drive your decision. And for me, the current I used I'm making right now, that was a clear no. Very clear no. And as soon as I came to accept that, I was able to move very quickly. So the first thing that you need to do, if you want to navigate these changes, whatever change you are making, is become a bit more self-aware and start looking at your current situation and say, hold on a minute, is this serving me anymore?

::

Sophie

Is this what I want? Are the symptoms of anxiety, overwhelm, stress, struggle and motivation? Procrastination? Are these normal or is this my baseline? Or are these abnormal? And I'm out of alignment of why I actually need them? One because the more that you understand why your baseline is and how you feel, usually on a day to day level, the more you're going to start recognizing when you are living out of alignment and when something isn't actually fitting for you anymore, and you're going to need to get really honest with yourself.

::

Sophie

And that can be very hard to do, because you've probably been lying to yourself a little bit and saying, oh, it's okay. Like the job is fine. Like it looks good on paper. It's okay. This is what I should be doing. So it's shifting that mindset into saying, actually, this isn't okay for me is a really big deal.

::

Sophie

So don't underestimate that and be really proud of yourself that you can look at something objectively and say, this isn't actually working for me, because that's a really big thing to acknowledge. Then the second piece of this is you need to get really clear on what it is that you do want. If you've come to the conclusion that the thing that you're currently living, the experience of living is not working for you, what would what do you think would work for you?

::

Sophie

Where do you want to be in five years time? Why do you want to be in three years time? Why do you want to be in six months from now? What is that version of reality? And I don't just mean like the external. I mean, how do you want to feel? How do you want to show up as a human?

::

Sophie

Like how do you want to present yourself in your business? How do you want to present yourself in your career? How do you want to go about your day to day? What does that look like and what does that feel like? Because if you don't know what that looks like, then you're never really going to understand what opportunities could present.

::

Sophie

Once you leave, the more specific you can get about that vision that you have for your next chapter of life, the better it is going to be. Because if you can visualize what that looks like, what that feels like, you're going to start believing and tricking your subconscious into that being your reality, and you're going to move very quickly from taking action, from being in this.

::

Sophie

I don't want to be in this anymore, to I'm starting to shift towards something of where I really do want to be, and that is a really powerful place to start. Now, once you have got to that point and you have said, okay, this is where I am, this is where I want to go, the step number three would be to really make a decision.

::

Sophie

Now, nothing really happens unless something changes, right? Like nothing changes unless something changes. So you can say, I'm not happy where I am and you can know where you want to go. But the reality is nothing is going to change unless you take action. So you have to take action and go fast. Actually, to take is to make a decision.

::

Sophie

And that decision is going to be different for every single person on how you make that decision, how you come to that conclusion, you need to find a way that comes, naturally for you to make that decision and that feels good for you. I personally make decisions by not in a rush way, because I'm actually an emotional authority.

::

Sophie

I'm a human design, and that means that I have to sit with decisions for a little while because I can get really excited about a decision and make decisions spontaneously. But then the next day, I might not necessarily feel an alignment with that decision. So I know that about myself. So now I do not make decisions spontaneously. I might get really excited about a decision, and then I need to take a step back and say, hold on a minute.

::

Sophie

Is this decision going to serve me and what I want in my next version of reality is, is actually aligned? Is this something that I actually want to pursue? So I need to sit with that decision. Now, in this example of me leaving the island and moving back into nomad life, it took me months, honestly, to make that decision.

::

Sophie

I was I was like, yes, no, yes, no, keep going back and forward. So then if I still can't decide after I've taken some time, I have to go back to that vision and I have to make a checklist against the vision that I want, the things that I want, and look at my current version of reality and say, is that giving that to me right now, or is it capable of giving it to me?

::

Sophie

And if that answer is no, then kind of makes your decision for you. And that's actually how I ended up making the decision to leave, because I looked at and said, hang on a minute, this is what I want. This version of reality is not giving that to me, and I know that for a fact. So you have to look at all of the different practicalities that are involved with you making this decision.

::

Sophie

You can also write pros and cons list. I also did that to be honest. My pros and cons list kind of evened itself out. So that one wasn't, necessarily so helpful for me. But if you can really feel into what you want, if this current situation is going to give you that, that is the one that's going to help you make that decision very cleanly.

::

Sophie

Now, step number four, after you have made that decision, you obviously need to take action on that decision. Not the first action for you might be if you're in a 9 to 5 and you are thinking about leaving, maybe your first action might not be quitting. I would never suggest just going randomly quit your job without a backup plan.

::

Sophie

It might be like researching what is going to be your next step. Like what would that future thing look like for you? How would you start the business? Maybe listening to a podcast like this one where you're like getting inspiration of someone that's done this before and can maybe help you? For example, I have a whole freedom Business Bootcamp, which helps people that are still in that 9 to 5 come up with a business idea, build an offer on that idea, and figure out who they're going to sell it to in literally 75 minutes.

::

Sophie

I have a whole AI app that is going to help you do that. So if you want to check that out, if you are thinking about leaving that 9 to 5 and starting your own thing, that is probably the first place to go. And then I would also suggest that you would look into like your finances and like the plan that you're going to do to actually leave the current situation.

::

Sophie

Iran and transition into entrepreneurship, for example, because that transition is also not so easy to take. And people make it really hastily, and then they do things in a really silly way and end up ending up going back to their 9 to 5 because they might not be financially stable, they might not really have an action plan, they might have just done it on a whim.

::

Sophie

Now I also have the freedom from this playbook, which documents my entire journey from leaving my 9 to 5 and transitioning into entrepreneurship and all of the mistakes that I made. So if you don't want to make the same mistakes that I did, go and check that out as well. I'll put that link in the show notes to whatever that next step looks like for you.

::

Sophie

That is an action that you're going to need to take for you to actually shift your reality from where you are today to where you want to be. So yes, it's going to be scary. Yes, it's going to be overwhelming to take that action, and there are going to be things that are going to hold you back along that process, and you are probably going to procrastinate on it for a while.

::

Sophie

You're probably gonna make loads of excuses as to why you not done it yet, and these are things that are going to hold you back. So step number five is we clearly understand the things that are going to hold you back. Now if you have said for over a year that you want to start an online business and you haven't taken action now, or if you said for over a year you want to leave your 9 to 5, or if you said for the past six months that you want to shift the business model, that you've already got into something else and you haven't taken action yet, and you're making up all of these excuses.

::

You need to get really honest with yourself about what is the real reason. Underneath those excuses. Because nine out of ten times it is fear. And I did a whole episode on the podcast about overcoming fears a few weeks ago, so you can go and check that out. I will link in the show notes, and fear is usually the root cause of every excuse.

Sophie

So if I say, oh, I don't have time to make this change right now, what I'm actually doing is I'm scared to make that change. Or if I say, oh, I don't have the money to invest into a starting a business right now, you actually, what you mean is that I'm scared to spend that money and waste it in case it doesn't work out.

::

Sophie

Or if you're saying, I'll start it after I get my next qualification, you're also just delaying the process because do you really need that qualification to start? I see this all the time with clients that come to me in that bootcamp, in my program foundations, and nearly every single time the thing that holds them back is fear. There is some level of scarcity underneath the excuses that they are sharing and claiming that the reasons why they're not taking the action.

::

Sophie

Now you need to get really honest yourself and understand what is at excuse telling you about yourself. What are you scared of? What is the real reason? Underneath the excuses as to why you are not going to be taking that action and make sure you become aware of that, because the more why you are of the things that are going to hold you back, the easier it is to overcome them.

::

Sophie

Now there are so many ways you can overcome them. I'm not going to go into that today, but if you notice that some of the excuses come up on up and over and over again and you're still not taking the action, definitely looking for subconscious reprograming and shifting your limiting beliefs in your subconscious world, because that is how you the fastest way to propel you forward.

::

Sophie

Now, once you have done all of those things and you followed those five steps, the last thing that I would suggest that you do is stay present. Now, it's going to be really difficult because you are going to constantly be thinking about the past and be like, oh my God, I'm leaving all of these things behind. And then you're going to constantly worry about the future and what that looks like.

::

Sophie

The reality is, we can't change the past. We can't go back. We can't do anything about that. That is what it is, is always going to be that your past is your past. Your future, however, is undetermined and nobody knows what that is actually going to look like. Even if you think you have the strongest intuition of like, what you think that's going to look like, and the things that you want probably is going to turn out in a very different reality to how you imagined.

::

Sophie

So you worrying about the future is completely a waste of your time. And in this process, I can guarantee you you will worry about your future and you will look back on your past, because these are the two things that you are in control of, or you think you're in control of. But really, where we need you today is in the present moment.

::

Sophie

Because if you want to stay in alignment and go with the flow and really take your decisions based on what you need and want in that moment in time, you need to stay present to recognize those things. So my best advice to you is go and read the book The Power of Now, something like that, which gives you all of the advice on staying present and in the moment in time, because that is going to be your biggest advantage in making these shifts and navigating change.

::

Sophie

Now, I would never just suggest that you just go and block your life like I did. I clearly do have backup plans. I've got savings. I have a family that would support me if I needed them. I do have some backup plans if anything was to go wrong. I have a business that is working for me, so I have income, you know, like I have options.

::

Sophie

So I can always go home if I really needed to. If now I know not everyone has that privilege, but what I would suggest is that you find that thing that is going to be your stability, the thing that you could have a backup plan because that knowing that you have that is going to make things a lot easier for you to actually take action.

::

Sophie

So whether that is, you know, you're not going to leave a 9 to 5 and to X amount of savings or, you're going to not leave your 9 to 5 until X date because then you know that your loan has been paid off, or I'm not going to shift my business model until this client contract ends, because then I've got enough money to see me through for the next three months whilst I regift things.

::

Sophie

You know, like, don't just make rash decisions without that stability in some way, particularly financial stability or environment stability, home stability, whatever stability is that you need people stability because when one thing is changing, ideally you have other things that are keeping you grounded and stable because that is where easier, so much easier to navigate when lots of things are changing and you don't have the stability anywhere.

::

Sophie

That is really overwhelming. And I've been there as well and I've done this whilst lots of things have been changing around me and honestly, I wouldn't recommend it. So try and find your thing that is going to ground you an anchor you and the thing that isn't going to change whilst you're making the changes. Because that is going to be so much more comforting for you whilst you're going through this period of change.

::

Sophie

So I hope that gave you some encouragement to make changes if you're currently in a situation. So if you're in a 9 to 5 and you want to move into entrepreneurship, I really hope that gave you some inspiration on how you could navigate that change and how to overcome fear and take big leaps and bold moves, because honestly, staying stuck somewhere that doesn't feel good for you is not worth it in the long run.

::

Sophie

There are so many different ways that you can burn out from that and it's just not enjoyable. Like, why are we building lives that don't work for us, that don't feel good for us when we can be making other choices? I'm not saying these choices are easy. I'm not saying the journey is going to be easy in any way, but as soon as we make the choice, we can take action to go in the direction that we want to go in.

lived in this way was back in:::

Sophie

So the other time that I left a base and I just flowed and amazing things happened, amazing people came into my life, money came into my life really easily. Business came, was doing really well. At that moment in time. I was really healthy. I was the most aligned, healthy, consciously connected version of myself. And I just I have that evidence to suggest that this time everything is going to be okay.

::

Sophie

Right? And I think sometimes to take leaps, we need evidence, whether it's from our own evidence or other people, and we borrow that evidence from them. That's really powerful. So if you need to borrow evidence, borrow mine. That flow is nice. Staying in the unknown is scary. I'm not gonna lie. That's moments which which bubble up and I'm 100.

::

Sophie

And what am I doing? But I just trust that everything is going to be okay. And I trust that the situations that I'm putting myself in feel good. Even yesterday, for example, I went to see a property here in Chiang Mai because I wanted somewhere to stay for the next five weeks and not have to move around and spread around Airbnbs.

::

Sophie

And I walked into the property and I thought, this isn't this isn't right. Like something's wrong. But realistically, I don't look out the window because property is literally across the road. There was something about the property I can't put my finger on it like that didn't feel good for me. I walked in, it didn't have this feeling. And on paper this property ticks all my boxes.

::

Sophie

It is in the most amazing location. It is a beautiful apartment. It has loads of natural light, which is one of my biggest requirements and on paper it's amazing. So why was I feeling a certain way? But anyway, I decided to decline the the apartment and not move there, even though I don't have another one yet to go and even look at.

::

Sophie

I just trusted that my body was telling me something and like my intuition was like, hang on a minute, this isn't right for you. And I'm really just trusting any one moment in time what I need. And I'm tuning into that through my body, through my mind and listening. And I'm taking action based on what I'm hearing. And that is my biggest advice to you is like, really tune in to how your body feels and trust that if something is meant for you, it cannot pass you by.

::

Sophie
