If You’re A Female Entrepreneur Wanting To Achieve Financial Freedom, Building A Business Is Not Enough!

Financial freedom is the end goal that a lot of female entrepreneurs are working towards. When they start an online business, the question of how to achieve financial freedom is not one to be taken lightly. There are, of course, many ways to achieve financial freedom as a female entrepreneur, but a proven and easier route is to make sure you have an exit strategy in your business.

Creating financial freedom is a big reason why so many female entrepreneurs take the leap to quit the 9-5 and start building an online business of their own. But many women never achieve it, because they miss this one thing…

They did not set their business up for achieving financial freedom.

If achieving financial freedom is the end goal of your business, just building a business isn’t going to be enough. That business not only needs to be set up with solid foundations, but it must be built with financial freedom in mind from the start, and one way you can do that is by thinking about having an exit strategy.

The thing is, most female entrepreneurs I work with forget to think that far ahead. They are building for right now, for what their business needs to look like in six months, maybe a year. But they are not thinking about the long game.

My whole business is built around the premise that if you want real, long-lasting financial freedom – the kind where you wake up on a Tuesday and decide you are going to fly around the world at the drop of a hat, or buy a new car without even thinking twice about it – then you need to start thinking differently about how you are building your online business.

Stop building your business to work only for the now, start building your online business to achieve financial freedom in the long-run!

Understanding How To Achieve Financial Freedom Starts With Building A Business You Could Sell

I’ll preface this by saying – achieving financial freedom does not ALWAYS happen by selling your business, there are other ways to achieve it – but it is one way to look at it, and for the purpose of this blog post, that is what we are focusing on.

Even if you start your business with no intent to sell it, one of the smartest things a female entrepreneur could do is build it as if you did want to sell. Because a sellable business is a valuable business. And a valuable business gives you options later down the line – and options are what real freedom is made of.

So, how to achieve financial freedom by selling a business?

  1. The first thing to think about is your total addressable market. How big is the industry or niche you are operating in? Could a business like yours realistically grow well past seven figures in this market? If your market is worth 500 million and you can get even one per cent of it, you are looking at a five-million-dollar business. That is your starting point. That is where your foundations need to be set from the very beginning. How to achieve financial freedom starts with choosing a market that is big enough to support the business you want to build.
  2. The second thing – and this is where so many female entrepreneurs get it wrong – is cash flow. Having a healthy cash flow is the key to selling any business. How to work out if your cash flow is healthy enough to exit your business? Generally, your business is worth five times your annual profit. Can you see that number growing? If not, before you focus on growing your top-line revenue, ask yourself how you can build a more profitable business model. Spend a year focused on that instead of chasing new revenue, and you will come out the other side with something worth far more.

This is how financial freedom actually happens. Not overnight, not by accident. By building something with genuine value from the ground up. The Freedom Model Method Foundations focused on building a profitable business from day one. Your Network Is Part Of Your Exit Strategy

Your exit strategy needs to be thought about way earlier than when you decide to sell your business, because whether your business gets sold or not, a lot of the time comes down to your connections and network.

One of the most powerful things I have come to understand about how to achieve financial freedom through your business is this: you need to be surrounding yourself with people like potential buyers, investors and competing businesses long before you ever want to sell anything.

The reason why is that when you start having conversations with other people in your space – other business owners, investors, potential acquirers – you get smarter about the value of what you are building. You hear what buyers actually look for. You hear what puts them off. You hear what they would pay a premium for. That intelligence will change the way you make decisions in your business every single day. Every female entrepreneur building towards financial freedom needs to be having these conversations.

Think about it this way – every single conversation you have, even a 10-minute chat with someone who runs a business in your world, is a chance to learn something that shapes how you build. What made them sell? What were the detractors to their price? What do they wish they had focused on earlier? These nuggets are gold. And the only way to get them is to drop the imposter syndrome, stop telling yourself these people will not want to talk to you, and just reach out. Some will ignore you. But the ones who respond will change how you think about your exit strategy and the value you are building towards.

Financial freedom as a female entrepreneur means knowing what your business is worth – even if you never sell it. When you are tracking that number and watching it grow year on year, you become a sharper, more intentional business owner. You make smarter decisions about when to scale, when to hire, and how to structure your model. Inside the Freedom Model Method, this is one of the core foundations we build together – join us here.

Financial Freedom Requires A Business Model That Doesn’t Burn You Out

Financial freedom means nothing if you are burning out to get there. And this is something I wish someone had told me much earlier in my journey as a female entrepreneur.

I spent years running my own online business at full throttle. I came from the fashion industry, where being overworked was applauded. If you were not stressed, something was wrong. I was completely conditioned to operate that way, and it cost me. I stalled. My body and my brain just stopped, and I had no choice but to completely change direction. That is not how to achieve financial freedom – that is how you blow the engine before you get anywhere near the finish line.

What I know now is that you can throttle up and you can throttle down. You are in control of the lever. And the sooner you understand that, the better the business you will build. If you want financial freedom, you have to build a business model that is sustainable enough to get you there – not one that burns you out three years in and leaves you unable to show up for your clients. A slow year is not a failure. It can be a strategic decision that sets you up to double down the following year. The compound annual growth rate evens out. Your well-being does not.

Here is the thing about being a service-based female entrepreneur: you are the product. When you are tired, stressed and running on empty, your output suffers. You know it. Your clients can feel it. So taking an afternoon off to recharge is not a luxury – it is literally a business decision. When I am rested, in a good routine and running from a place of calm, ideas flow, creativity opens up, and my business feels like an open channel. When I am overwhelmed, I am blocked. It is that simple.

Setting boundaries – with clients, with your working hours, and with yourself – is one of the foundations of building a business that actually leads to financial freedom. It has taken me years to get firm on this, and it is now one of the core pillars of everything I teach. The Freedom Model Method is built around this principle – building a business that works for your life, not the other way around. You can enroll and start building that business today.

How To Put Your Exit Strategy To Use

If and when the time comes for you to sell your business and use your exit strategy, here is your action plan for making financial freedom happen…

  1. Analyse the market you are in. What is it worth? Where does your business sit and give value? Do your own research on what your business is worth BEFORE you get a valuation. This will put you in a better position when it comes to pitching to potential buyers.
  2. Understand your numbers, specifically your profitability and cash flow. You need to know this if you are going to be pitching to any potential buyers – it will be the first thing on their mind, so it should be the first thing on yours as well.
  3. Talk to people in your network first – you’ve built the connection, now use them! Show them how valuable your business could be to them.
  4. Never go for the close on the first or second conversation – always focus on getting your next 15 minutes, your next conversation, your next step before you go in with a hard sell. People buy from people they know, like and trust. Having this relationship with them first is going to work in your favour.
  5. Practice your sales skills. Whether you are selling to clients, potential hires, investors or future buyers, you are always selling something. Get comfortable with it before it’s time to put your exit strategy to good use.

So if you want to achieve financial freedom from selling your business, it’s time to get your exit strategy in place.

Regardless of whether you sell your business or not. Knowing what your business is worth. Knowing who your potential buyers are. Knowing what would make your business more attractive to acquire. That knowledge will make you a better female entrepreneur every single day.

If You Want Financial Freedom - Build The Foundations Now

Financial freedom is absolutely available to you as a female entrepreneur. But it requires a different kind of thinking than most people start with. It requires you to build not just a business that makes money today, but one with solid foundations that can grow, scale and ultimately give you the options you want – whether that is a planned exit strategy, a lifestyle that works around your family, or simply the freedom to choose how you spend your days.

That is exactly what my signature programme, The Freedom Model Method Foundations, is designed to help you do. It is not about hustling harder. It is about building smarter – with a model that supports your life, your energy, and your long-term financial freedom goals. If you are a female entrepreneur who wants to stop building in the moment and start building with real intention around financial freedom and a long-term exit strategy, this is where to start.

How can a female entrepreneur achieve financial freedom through her online business?

Achieving financial freedom as a female entrepreneur requires more than just building a profitable business – it means building one with solid foundations and a long-term exit strategy in mind from day one. Choosing a large enough market, maintaining healthy cash flow, and structuring your business model so it could one day be sold are all key steps in how to achieve financial freedom that lasts.

How does your network impact your exit strategy and financial freedom?

Your network is a core part of your exit strategy. Connecting with investors, potential buyers, and other business owners early gives you insight into what makes a business attractive to acquire – intelligence that shapes smarter day-to-day decisions and accelerates your path to financial freedom as a female entrepreneur.

Can a female entrepreneur achieve financial freedom without burning out?

Yes – and a sustainable business model is non-negotiable for real financial freedom. Burning out before reaching your goals is one of the most common pitfalls for female entrepreneurs. Setting boundaries, protecting your energy, and building a business that works around your life – not the other way around – is how to achieve financial freedom without blowing the engine on the way there. The Freedom Model Method Foundations helps you do just that!

What are the first steps to putting an exit strategy in place for financial freedom?

Start by researching your market value and understanding your own numbers – particularly profitability and cash flow. Then leverage your existing network, lead with relationship-building over hard selling, and consistently sharpen your sales skills. These are the foundational moves that position any female entrepreneur to execute an exit strategy and turn it into real, lasting financial freedom.

I tried to live a “normal” life: I spent 11+ years working my way up in the fashion industry, working for brands like Ralph Lauren and Burberry. I had the apartment in the city, I lived for going out at the weekends, spent money on designer bags and holidays – until I realized this lifestyle DID NOT FULFIL MEI was waking up with anxiety every day – surviving, but definitely not thriving.

So I quit. I left my 9-to-5 behind to start an online business that supported the lifestyle I actually wanted. Now that looks like slow mornings, daily beach walks, co-working with like-minded entrepreneurs, yoga, meditation, and lots of social connections.

Since 2020, I’ve built multiple online business offers – from online business coaching and consulting to online courses, digital products, and a mental health marketplace – all while travelling the world and living life, and earning money on my own terms.
